Spotwave's In-building coverage enhancement at Central DuPage Hospital Honored as Most Innovative In-building Coverage Solution at Annual Wireless Event
Las Vegas, NV and Ottawa, ON, Sept. 21, 2004 - Spotwave Wireless took top prize for the Most Innovative In-Building Wireless Solution category at the annual Excellence in Business Awards presented at the Tower Summit in Las Vegas last week. The Company was honored for their innovative solution at Central DuPage Hospital where they worked with Sprint to enhance the facility's wireless coverage so that staff and patients had access to the latest mobile technology.
Working with Sprint and Central DuPage Hospital (CDH), Spotwave Wireless planned, commissioned and deployed the solution for the 750,000 square foot facility in a two-week time frame – almost unheard of for conventional in-building installations. In doing so Spotwave helped Sprint enable CDH nurses, physicians and administrators to communicate instantly with each other and obtain mobile access to important patient information from virtually anywhere within the hospital, resulting in optimal patient care.

Spotwave was judged based on stringent criteria that had to demonstrate “outside of the box” thinking, how the solution addressed current industry deployment or site challenges and how it overcame challenges inherent in the building. Judges included distinguished representatives from wireless carriers and vendors, industry wireless associations, Shorecliff event management, media, and the investment community.
