

Making always-on cell phone coverage a reality
OTTAWA, Canada, June 13, 2001 -- Spotwave Wireless Inc, offering affordable, clear "always-on" wireless coverage in those spots where cell phones do not normally work, today announced its first Board of Directors, chaired by Luc Lussier of Lumic Electronics.

Mr. Lussier is president, CEO and founder of Lumic Electronics, a semiconductor company developing highly integrated multimedia processors for next generation wireless terminals. Prior to this he was co-founder and CTO of Philsar Semiconductor, a RF chip company that was acquired by Conexant Systems. Mr. Lussier draws his knowledge from semiconductor startups, corporate management and engineering design experience.
Ms. Golden is a senior executive with 18 years of general management and finance experience in a variety of high tech industries including wireless telecommunications, entertainment and media, software development and biotechnology. For the last two years, Ms. Golden has operated her own business, providing strategic financial advice and management support to high technology start-up companies. Prior to this, she was president and chief executive officer for Bell Mobility Paging and was chief financial officer for Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc.
Before founding Venture Coaches, Mr. Haw spent 11 years at Newbridge Networks Corporation (now Alcatel Networks), most recently as vice president of Corporate Business Development, where he managed strategic investments in more than 20 companies from start-up to pre-IPO stages. He was directly responsible for the Affiliate Program Office, which involved the incubation and spin off of highly focused, entrepreneurial companies to complement Newbridge's product strategy.
Mr. Lewis has more than 25 years of technology industry experience, including serving as executive vice president of the Access and Network Management Product Group at Newbridge Networks Corporation. He has also held project management and research and development positions at Mitel Corporation and Nortel. He holds six patents in digital communications and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Starvision Multimedia Corporation, Bridgewater Systems Corporation, PIXStream Inc. and Spacebridge Networks Corporation.
Mr. Rauch has over 30 years of experience in international business development, marketing, general management, and design and development of avionic systems. He has expertise dealing with the senior management of many international aerospace companies. Prior to starting Spectrum Target Detection, he was vice president, product management for Canadian Marconi Company, responsible for all programs, products and contract administration amounting to $200M per annum.
Ms. Weinstein's practice encompasses the representation of emerging growth companies, established public and private technology businesses, venture capital funds and investment bankers. She has represented issuers and underwriters in numerous Canadian and U.S. public offerings including JDS Fitel Inc. GSI Lumonics Inc., JetForm Corporation and MOSAID Technologies Limited. Ms. Weinstein has taken the lead role in dozens of high tech companies including the sale to Cisco Systems Corporation, Lucent Corporation, Sun Microsystems, PMC-Sierra Inc. and Alcatel.
Mr. Young has over 16 years of technical and management experience in the high-tech industry, with a particular focus on wireless communications. He is an expert in the field of adaptive antennas and is the co-inventor of an interference canceller for CDMA with patents pending in Canada, the U.S. and Japan. In 1998 he was instrumental in helping to license this technology in Japan.
